IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth Anthony
Zuber
August 14, 1933 – June 27, 2025
Zuber, Kenneth "Kenny" A. Born to Eternal Life June 27, 2025 at the age of 91. Loving husband of Betty (nee Lavine) for 70 years. Cherished father of Steven (Sherre Hawkins) Zuber, Deb Christensen, Randy (Anne Kennedy) Zuber, Cindy (Dean Hammes) Koluch, Dan (Mary) Zuber and Sandy (Joel) Munter. Beloved grandfather of Rachel (Jeff) Easton, Cassie Schlosser, Race Kangas, Grant Glowacki, Spencyr Zuber, Sawyer (Eileen) Zuber, Jordan Koluch, Dylan Koluch, Adam (Priscilla) Zuber, Bryce (Harris Fisch) Munter and Kennedy Munter. Great-grandfather of Phoenix and Logan McClain; Dorian and Scarlett Schlosser; Alex, Gabriel and Casen Zuber; Brooklyn and Londyn Zuber; Brody Foley; Bailey Noa Fisch.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Ken began building the foundation of his life-both literally and figuratively-at St. Stanislaus School, graduating from 8th grade on June 11, 1948. He went on to attend Boys Tech High School, where he graduated in 1952 with a head full of ideas and a heart set on craftsmanship.
That same year, Ken embarked on a journey few can claim today: a true master's apprenticeship. On October 1, 1952, he began training at B&G Woodworking Company in Cudahy, earning $1.05 an hour while mastering the fine art of woodworking. In January 1954, with over 4,400 hours of experience already under his belt, he moved on to Janka Millwork Manufacturing Company, where he completed the grueling 8,000-hour apprenticeship in October 1956.
Ken's mastery covered every inch of the trade-from glue room work and planer-jointer operations to cabinet machine work and stair-building. By the time he finished, he had logged hours that would rival any craftsman's resume and built a reputation that stood as solid as the cabinets he crafted.
He later brought his talents to the City of Milwaukee, where he worked as a cabinet maker and carpenter until his retirement in 1996. But retirement didn't mean rest for Ken-it meant more time in his basement workshop, turning raw lumber into finely crafted heirlooms. His hobby was his passion, and his basement was a classroom for anyone eager to learn-just as long as they paid close attention.
Ken's legacy is built into every corner, curve, and dovetail joint he touched-and into the lives of those lucky enough to learn from him.
