IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kay Ellen
Trexell
April 8, 1941 – May 15, 2024
Kay (Netzler) Trexell
April 8, 1941-May 15, 2024 age 83 years old.
Kay Ellen Trexell, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on May 15 after a long illness. At the time of her death she resided at Francis House Memory Care in South Milwaukee, WI. She was born in Portage, WI and grew up in North Fond du Lac, WI, where she graduated from North Fond du Lac High School in 1959. She resided in Milwaukee and South Milwaukee since the early 1960's.
Kay enjoyed her home, family and friends, her backyard birds and golf (where she first learned to swear), but mostly her Brittanys. She was a proud three-time Champion of the Grant Park Women's Golf League, 1991, 2006, and 2007, and if she were to be cremated, her ashes would belong in the trap in front of the %#$@*! 17th green, as it seemed to take a lifetime for her to chip out of it. She enjoyed the music of Daniel O'Donnell, Johnny Cash, Waylon, Willie, Dolly, and Tammy and George. She loved Joe Montana unconditionally, always and 4ever, an obsession her late husband tolerated with good humor. A favorite memory of her family was her impromptu parade down the street at her 75th birthday party, wearing the majorette boots she begged for as a child every year but never received until her eldest son gave them to her that day, and the official Joe Montana game jersey gifted by her youngest son that day. As her honorary third son, Pat Fee, described it, he had never seen such unabashed glee on anyone's face in his life.
She is survived by the best dog she ever had, Sundance; two sons: Brad, of Kansas City, MO; and Brian (Katie) of Muskego, WI; five favorite grandchildren; Cora, Celia and Sawyer Trexell, of Muskego, and Jack and Ellie Lewis of Spokane, WA, each of whom she told, privately, was her favorite at one time or another; her brother Robert Netzler (Carol) of DeForest, WI nieces, nephews and many friends. She is also survived by her dear friend, golfing pal, and companion, Bob Kempf of Oak Creek, WI, an important part of her life for more than 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Trexell; her father, Felix Netzler, mother, Jeannette Netzler Rogers, and her elder brother Lee Netzler, as well as her favorite previous best dogs she ever had: Penney, Dixie, Bingo and Divot, and her very favorite grand dogs, Astro, Buckwheat and Xena.
Her sons are forever grateful to Kay's special friends whose assistance allowed her to remain in her home as long as possible. From grocery shopping to snow plowing to lawn mowing, and delivering meals, we are grateful to Bob Kempf, Maxine Malone, Stephanie and Anthony Uljanec, Pat Bergholz, Mark Wilkinson, and many others.
Thank you also to the caregivers at Franciscan Villa and Francis House Memory Care for their help and support, and to Moments Hospice care.
