IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen Lois
Werling
May 8, 1942 – August 1, 2024
(nee Konkol) (formerly Nastulski) entered heaven on August 1, 2024 at the age of 82. Kathleen was surrounded by love from her family at the time of her death. Kathleen was born in Milwaukee on May 8, 1942, to Lydia and Delphin. Dearest sister of Paul (Marlene) Konkol, Michael Konkol, late Lizabeth (Chuck) Mellor, Margaret (Gary) Kruse. Kathleen was the loving and devoted wife of the late Ervin Nastulski and the late James Werling. Loving, tender, and dedicated mother to Karen Nastulski (David Drobnik), David (Jeri) Nastulski, and Kristan (Tom) Hren. Kathleen's grandchildren, Lydia Greco, Stella Nastulski, and Owen Hren were the treasures of her life. The moments spent with them gave her pure enjoyment. She also had the added bonus of two great-grandchildren, David and Quinn.
Kathleen excelled in Natare as a 1960 Pulaski High School graduate. Kathleen was a lifelong learner who pursued her interest in writing, communication, and psychology at MATC. Kathleen worked in several fulfilling environments including Fred's Grocery Store, Sentry Foods, Marquette University in the athletic ticket office, and Larson Engineers on Jones Island. However, her favorite place to work was at Alverno College in the Advising Department. Kathleen's nurturing personality made her a perfect fit for the atmosphere at Alverno where she supported the students and staff in reaching their full potential.
Once retired, Kathleen also remained active, assisting voters during elections, tending to her garden, knitting hats, scarves, and blankets for loved ones, and reading. She loved spending time with family and friends, relishing her time at the lake up north, and taking weekend getaway trips. Kathleen was the ultimate superfan, cheering on her kids and grandkids at their games and performances. Her kind, sensitive, and compassionate nature positively impacted the lives of her friends and family and her thoughtfulness and bravery will remain epic in our memories forever. Bringing out the best in people was one of Kathleen's magical qualities, as she always succeeded in uplifting others and making them feel good about themselves. Oh, how we will miss this intelligent gentlewoman, a great listener and conversationalist who was beautiful both inside and out.
The family would like to thank the 2nd-floor rehab nurses and caregivers at the Milwaukee Catholic Home who made Kathleen's final days peaceful by treating her with compassion, love, kindness, and dignity.
