Obituary

Dr. Kathleen (Kathi) Heinzelman, DC Milwaukee; born to Edward (Eddie) and Alice (nee Brandt) Heinzelman of Pewaukee on April 12 1952, Kathi passed away unexpectedly on July 30, 2022. She is survived by her longtime partner Bruce Blodgett, brothers Ed (Rosalie Beck) and William Heinzelman, nephew Eddie (Jessica) Heinzelman, grandnephew Ethan and grandniece Elise Heinzelman. Kathi grew up in Pewaukee and graduated from Pewaukee High School in 1970. She attended the University of Wisconsin - Waukesha and transferred to the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee where she earned a degree in medical technology in 1974. She earned a number of other advanced degrees and eventually earned a degree in Doctor of Chiropractic from the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard IL. After a short stint as a chiropractor, Kathi returned to the field she loved and served at a number of Milwaukee area hospitals including Family Hospital, St. Michaels Hospital, and the last 18 years before her retirement, Aurora West Allis Medical Center as a medical technologist. Over the years she enjoyed snowmobiling or riding a pontoon boat or attending races with Bruce or reading a good book and doing word searches. High on her list of leisure activities was time spent at the family vacation property 'up north' including driving around Langlade county taking in the sights! And of course she loved her cats, the late Cooter and recently Bridget who will most certainly miss her. And Kathi was the consummate care giver, particularly as our mother fell ill. She cared for mom in her home as long as she was able and then was a constant visitor and companion while our mom was confined in a nursing home. With that in mind, the family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Aurora Medical Center Grafton for their expert and tender care for Kathi and also keeping the cares and concerns of her family in their thoughts and activities. At her request there will not be a visitation or other services at this time but the family would like to hold a celebration of life sometime in the very near future.
