"Katie"
(nee Bosnjak) Born to Eternal Life on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Remarkable Age of 107 years. Beloved wife of 63 years to the late Edward F. Canning. Loving mother of Mary Canning, Michael (Catherine) Canning, Therese (Peter) Lukaszewski and Patti (Tom) Uttke. Cherished grandma of Joseph Canning, Jodie (Dennis) Revolinski, Jen (Mark) Uttke, TJ (Shannon) Uttke, Tracey Uttke and Adam Lukaszewski. Adored great-grandma of Kendall Revolinski, Lucas Canning, Rose Uttke, Stella, Sophia and Olivia Maciejewski. Preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Stana Bosnjak, sister Mary (Frank) Westphal and brother Walter Bosnjak. Katie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members, friends, and the entire community of Bay View.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 9AM -11:45 AM at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 1023 E. Russell Ave. Milwaukee. Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon. Private interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Katie was proudly born and raised in Bay View; born in the family home on Wentworth Avenue. She graduated grade school at Immaculate Conception in 1929 and was a 1933 graduate of Mercy High School. On October 31, 1941 she married the love of her life, Eddie. Together, they raised their family on Superior Street and later moved to Oak Creek.
Katie was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a proud retiree of the U.S. Post Office after 25 years of service and had been happily retired since 1978. Throughout her life, she enjoyed being social and giving back to her community. Katie was an active member of Narfe-Federal Retirees Association, Federal Post #203 American Legion Auxiliary, Past President of the Red Arrow Division Ladies Auxiliary of Milwaukee and Past President of the National Red Arrow Club, Alonso Cudworth Post# 23 Ladies Auxiliary. She was even named Bay View Person of the Year at one time.
