Longtime resident of Bay View and self proclaimed mayor of Illinois Ave. went to join his beloved wife, the late Jane (nee Talbot), found peace on Saturday, July 23, 2005, age 85 years. Loving father of Jeffrey (Alice), Linda (Allan) Wobick and Scott (Debbie) Gierhahn. Proud grandpa of Allison, Amanda, Heather, Kurt, Lukas, Kevin and Joshua. Dear brother of the late Robert Gierhahn. Also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. Visitation at the Funeral Home TUES 4-6 PM. Funeral Service at 6 PM. Interment and military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery. Karl was a graduate of Ripon College, a proud U.S. Army veteran serving during WW II, attaining the rank of Major and member of Cudworth Post No. 23, American Legion. He also was member of Lake Lodge No. 189 F&AM, Scottish Rite and Tripoli Temple and the YMCA. He started his sales career with Country Gardens food wholesaler and then retiree from WISN radio after over 30 years. Karl was lifetime member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Bay View. Karl always had a story to tell, he spoke his mind, and will be missed by his family, many friends, and especially the caring people of Layton terrace in Greenfield.
