Julius Azul Hallman Biel
With broken hearts and unwavering love, we announce the passing of our treasured son Julius, who left this world far too early on February 15, 2026. Julius was only 23 years old. He was born on June 23, 2002. Julius was the beloved son of Colleen Hallman and Thomas Biel, devoted older brother of Leopold Biel; gentle grandson of Nana Judith Gross and Oma Caroline (late reverend Kenneth) Biel; cherished nephew of Celeste and Charles DuFrane, Paulette (Po) Hall, Timothy and Melanie Biel, and Sara Chase; brotherly cousin of Devan and Jacob DuFrane; fond cousin of Brook, Tavo, and Jesse Hall, Justin Biel and Anga Vashon, and Kerri Chase; special great nephew to great aunts and uncles and second cousins; and steady companion to his dog Francis and his kitty Cinnamon. Julius felt love and deep gratitude to Seville Rimmer and all those at Unique Unity.
What Julius loved most was his family, his pets, spending time at his family farm, long road trips, Lil' Wayne, coffee, tattoos, and a good cigar.
Julius was smart and possessed a sharp, philosophical mind. He thought deeply and loved philosophizing. He was artistic and dressed uniquely, favoring flashy necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings. Julius had a wry sense of humor, a sly smile, and a deep belly laugh that could shake walls when he got going. Julius was empathetic, sincere, honest, and a generous gentleman. He took his role as big brother to Leo seriously and affectionately referred to Leo as "L'il Bro." He loved his golden retriever Francis and always greeted Francis with "Hey Buddy, how ya' doing?" and a "How ya doin', Kitty?" to his old friend Cinnamon.
Julius had incredible inner vision that shone out from bright, clear, blue eyes described by an ophthalmologist as "pilot eyes." Those pilot eyes saw insight very few of us experience in life, and also allowed him to be a crack shot when in his first year of deer hunting he brought down a 10 point buck with a perfect shot. He was a graceful archer, who just this last fall, after having given up his bow for years, took it up again and shot a double bulls eye, splitting his first arrow dead center.
Julius was a rare, bright spirit who carried with him a heavy load he never asked to have to bear. He fought, he moved forward, and experienced happiness. He lived with courage, hope, and optimism. Most of all, Julius was a spirit of gentleness who brought great love into the lives he touched. Julius challenged everything about life with a depth that took him into the shadows, where he questioned the deepest meanings of life. One of his main goals in his young life was to once again live independently, which recently came true for him when he moved into his own apartment and where he found his freedom. Julius was a brave soul who battled a debilitating, and finally, devastating mental illness.
Julius is now free and will forever be loved. His spirit is bright. May you rest in the peace you deserve, rare Julius Azulius. Your existence is in our souls. Thank you for choosing to spend your brief time on earth with us. We will continue loving you forever.
We love you so very very much.
