(nee Svanda), formerly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin died peacefully on August 11, 2011, at Delmar Gardens Nursing Home in Overland Park, Kansas She was born in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, on November 29 1911.During the depression, she operated a chocolate-coating machine at the Sperry Candy Company for 12 years, until her marriage in 1941, While living at the Laughlin Air Force Base near Del Rio, Texas with her husband, who was enlisted in the Army Air Corps, she learned how to operate power sewing equipment. Using that experience, she later worked part-time for Eagle Knitting Mills in Milwaukee. She was an excellent homemaker and seamstress as well as an avid gardener. She will always be remembered for the scrumptious Christmas cookies that she baked for friends and family and also for the beautiful ceramic pieces that she crafted. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband Emil of 56 years, a sister, and three brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Virginia (Frank), two grandsons, Paul (Millie) and Tim Balistreri, one great-granddaughter, Zoe Isabele and many thoughtful nieces, nephews, and special friends.
