IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Anthony
Schneider
August 15, 1955 – April 9, 2025
Joseph Anthony Schneider, age 69, of West Allis, WI, passed away April 9, 2025. Born on August 15, 1955, in Milwaukee, WI, Joe lived a life rich with humor, curiosity, and quiet dedication to his family and passions.
The son of the late Harold and Dorothy Schneider (née Sobolik), Joe grew up in Milwaukee alongside his siblings Carol Schneider, Ann Sabbath, Barb Potratz, Susan Hoffarth, and Harold (Jimmy) Schneider. From a young age, Joe displayed a bright mind, a creative spirit, and an unmistakably quirky sense of humor that would come to define him.
A graduate of Pulaski High School's class of 1973, Joe continued his education at MATC, earning an associate degree in Accounting and Business Administration. He later earned his bachelor's in Business Administration from Lakeland College, never losing his thirst for knowledge.
In 1976, Joe joined the U.S. Army, spending four years stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and some time in Germany, where he worked as a Construction Draftsman. His time in the military instilled in him a strength and pride that he carried with him throughout his life.
Joe worked hard to provide for his family, never allowing his job to define him. What defined him most was his love: for his daughters, for the odd and unusual, for his garden, and for every creepy Halloween decoration he could find. He was a proud and devoted "girl dad," raising two bold, kind-hearted, and weird daughters, Nicole DeSarno (Michael) and Amanda Kachar (Matthew). He loved them fiercely and unconditionally, embracing their uniqueness and encouraging their strength.
Joe had a deep affection for the outdoors, often found tending his garden or exploring with his camera in hand. He had an artist's eye and a mischievous soul. He was an avid reader. He found joy in cult horror films, creepy art, and creepy baby dolls. Halloween was his favorite holiday, and every year he took great delight in scaring the neighborhood kids (and sometimes adults).
With an inquisitive mind and a goofy heart, Joe found endless delight in Doctor Demento songs, dancing along to "The Bare Necessities," and making his close loved one's smile. His quick wit, boundless curiosity, and love of the unconventional made him unforgettable.
Joe is survived by his daughters and their spouses, his siblings, many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and members of the extended Schneider and Tessler families, including his former spouse Michele Lange, with whom he shared years of family and friendship.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Joe's name to the Mitchell Park Domes, a place that reflects the beauty, curiosity, and nature that Joe so loved.
Joe lived his life with the right amount of weirdness, unapologetically, focusing on the people and things he loved most… so if you didn't like it, screw you.
He will be missed.
