Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the age of 84 years. Beloved husband for 62 years of Irene (nee Bautzmann). Loving father of the late Karen (the late Chuck) Cokain. Larry, Debbie, Steve (Patricia) and Randy (Christine) Popp. Cherished grandfather of Kevin (Jacqueline), Hailey, Faryn, Dylan, Amanda, Justin, Joseph and Christopher. Treasured great-grandfather of Connor and Daisy. Preceded in death by his brother Bill and sister Marie. Further survived by other family members and many dear friends. Visitation at the Funeral Home FRIDAY, May 21, 2010 from 3-6 PM. Funeral Services at 6 PM. Joe's gift of gab and 'Mr. Fix It' attitude led the founding of Akrit Sales and Service. He was very proud to watch the company that he and Irene began in their home, blossom into the much respected company it is today. After passing the company on to his sons, Joe took to retirement with gusto. He enjoyed an occasional cup of coffee at George Webb, fishing, and perfecting his nap. What Joe cherished most in life though, was his family. He loved nothing more than holding court over family gatherings, spending summers with the family up north, and the much anticipated 'Popp Family Vacation'. On which he spent his time enjoying his family, getting a sunburn on his belly and, of course, perfecting that nap. Joe was a gift to everyone that knew and loved him.
