Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Age 83 years. Fondly known as "Senior" "Geezer" "Iron Man". Joe is survived by his first and only wife of 61 years, Lidia (nee Pierotti). Loving Dad of Terry (Dave) Walker, Joey (Terry) and Mickey Cerar. Cherished Grandpa of Kayla (fianc Josh Sanders) and Brianna Cerar. Dear brother-in-law of Bob Pierotti (Tom Mahoney). Preceded in death by his sister Betty (the late Wenzel) Dvornik. Further survived by other family members, many dear friends and bowling enthusiasts.
Joe was a U.S. Navy veteran, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. He was the former owner and operator of Avenue Supermarket and Avenue Beverage Center on Howell Ave. For the past 37 years he enjoyed working with his son Joey, daughter Mickey and friend Dennis Joerres at the Bowlers Pro Shop, where he was the Jack of All Trades. Throughout his life Joe enjoyed bowling, traveling and dining out. He will be remembered for the endless jokes he told, the time he took to visit with customers and friends and the love he shared with his wife and family. The family would like to thank the staffs of Franciscan Villa and St. Francis Hospital for the special and tender care of Joe. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
