Of York, PA formerly of Milwaukee was Born to Eternal Life on Friday May 25, 2018 Age 78 years. Beloved husband for 57 years of Karen (nee Knaak). Loving dad of Lori (Steven) Smith, Lisa (Brad) Stauch and Jay (Marne) Stollenwerk. Cherished grandfather of, Kara Smith, Marie Smith, Jordan Smith, Annie Stolenwerk and Mattie Stollenwerk, Christopher and Matthew Stauch. Dear brother of Janice Kempowski. Dear brother-in-law of Kathleen Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Esther Stollenwerk, a grandson, Justin Edward Stauch and 2 brothers-in-law, Eugene Kempowski and Phillip Lee.
John graduated from Boys Tech High School in Milwaukee in 1957. He earned his associate degree in mechanical engineering from Milwaukee Institute of Technology. He served 6 years in the Wisconsin Air National Guard from 1957 to 1963. John joined Caterpillar in Milwaukee in 1957 and entered the Machinist Apprenticeship program. In 1975, John relocated to Caterpillars corporate office in Peoria, IL. He then moved to York in 1978 and retired from Caterpillar with 40 years of service in 1997 as Logistics Manager. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in York. John enjoyed traveling, sports cars, NASCAR and fishing. His children and grandchildren were a very important part of his life.
Memorial visitation Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 10-11 AM at St. Veronica Church, 4001 S. Whitnall Ave. Milwaukee. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
