Of Greenfield, formerly of South Milwaukee, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at the age of 88 years. John was born June 25, 1929 in Cudahy and was a Korean War veteran having served from 1951 to 1953. On June 6, 1953 he was united in marriage to Eunice Jessie (nee Pischke) who preceded him in death on January 1, 1999. From 1953 to 1963, John owned and operated Cudahy Cab Inc., and then Tri City Cab until they were purchased by Checker Cab, aka Quick Flash. In 1963, John became a laborer for the City of South Milwaukee, became Foreman in 1967 and became Street Superintendent in 1985, until his retirement in 1994. John was also an Auxiliary Policeman for Cudahy from 1960 to 1963 and an Auxiliary Policeman for South Milwaukee from 1963 to 1967. John also worked as a security guard for McDonalds in South Milwaukee from 1967 to 1981.
John is survived by his beloved fianc and companion, Kathleen Geiger, his daughter Jill (Tom) Budnik, his son, Jerome (Elaine) Schmitt, and grandchildren Andrew and Kaitlin Schmitt. Further survived by many friends and family. He will also be remembered as a special man who touched so many lives. John loved to play bingo and slots and will be missed by his extended friends at Potawatomi.
