Died peacefully at home on December 24, 2016 at age 97 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters. Survived by his longtime companion and best friend of 22 years, Pat Kveen, her children Linda (Lyle) Hager, Patty (Gary) Ringwell, Gayle (Todd) Levra, and Dan (Linda) Kveen, and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation at Ascension Lutheran Church (1236 South Layton Blvd) on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 12PM-1PM. Funeral service at 1PM. Entombment and military honors to follow at Arlington Park Cemetery. John was born in Moline, Illinois on May 28, 1919. He was drafted into the Army Air Force in 1945 and served 3 years. He met Jeannette Schulz and they were married in California and together for 49 years before her passing in 1994. He worked at G.E. for 28 years, was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church since 1958, and a member of the Free Order of Masons.
