John L. Immel, 97, of Mukwonago, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, surrounded by his family.
John was born June 2, 1927, in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from Bay View High School and attended the University of Wisconsin Extension. After serving in the US Navy during World War II, he went on to become a member of the Milwaukee Fire Department where he retired as a Captain after 37 years.
John was preceded in death by his parents; Leslie and Esther Immel, his twin brother Carl, and brother Thomas. He was also preceded by his wife of 67 years, and the love of his life Marilyn (nee Yunk) and son-in-law Timothy Brown.
He is survived by his son David (Sue) Immel, daughter Diane Brown, grandson John Immel, granddaughter Sophia Brown and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends.
John lived in assisted living for ten years at Linden Grove-Mukwonago and moved into hospice care there for the last month of his life. His family wishes to thank the entire staff at Linden Grove for their outstanding care, love, and friendship they showed him over the years. The family would also like to thank the hospice care team from Commonheart for their care and support for not only John, but the entire family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26th, at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 12400 W Cold Spring Road, New Berlin, WI. from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Interment at Arlington Park Cemetery to follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to the family.
