John grew up with strong Christian beliefs that guided him throughout his life. He truly "walked the talk," dedicating himself to serving others. His education included an associate's degree in Auto Technology, and he was a master mechanic. He later graduated from Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina, with a bachelor's degree in counseling, and earned his master's degree in counseling from the University of Texas.

John spent his entire professional career of 40 years in Texas and Wisconsin serving troubled youth, often from dysfunctional families. He was frequently able to help keep them out of the penal system. During his time in Wisconsin, he received the honor of being named Wisconsin Social Worker of the Year.

He was a member of Eastbrook Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where much of his social life revolved around church activities. Many of these activities involved community service, particularly assisting immigrant youth and their families as they adapted to life in America.

John loved riding his motorcycles and enjoyed using his mechanical skills to help friends fix and restore old cars. He was deeply loved by his many friends for his kindness and selfless dedication to helping others. He is dearly missed.

A memorial services is being planned at Eastbrook Church with details to come, and burial with the family later this summer at West Lawn Memorial Park where he will be laid to rest with his family members who have preceded him to glory. If desired, memorials in John's memory to Eastbrook Church are appreciated.
