Obituary

Borkowitz, John 'Jack' A dedicated veteran and loving father, grandfather and friend, died on December 20, 2013. He was 69 years old. John was born and raised in Milwaukee and spent his entire life in southeast Wisconsin. He was the youngest of five children to Harry and Josephine Borkowitz(nee Szymczak), brother to Robert, Kenneth, Ronald and Diane, and stepson to Delfin 'Curly' Nowak. He fathered two children, Jodi (Robert) Morris of San Francisco, CA and Todd (Amy) Borkowitz of Portland, OR, with his former wife Barbara Borkowitz (nee Pietrowiak). He was beloved grandfather to Cecelia Fauvowitz and is survived by Kenneth, Jodi, Todd, Cecelia and other relatives. Having served for the U.S. Army's 177th ASA Company in Korea, John dedicated much of his life to advocating for the well being of returning veterans. John utilized his skills gained at Milwaukee's Boys Trade & Tech High School to become a respected professional for Mueller Color Plate and Moebius Printing before founding Creative Color Concepts. His later work included a 'Freedom's Finest' print, created and personally presented to Medal of Honor recipients, POWs and the Department of Veterans Affairs. John had a passion for Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, and religiously cheered on the Packers, Brewers and Badgers. He was also a talented artist and dancer, even dancing with a hospice nurse on the day of his death. John's family extends a sincere thank you to Karen Kirkpatrick and Shannon and Todd Czubinski, as well as staff at Muskego Health Care Center, Hospice Advantage and Waterford Senior Living, who made his final months comfortable and enjoyable. Memorial visitation on SUNDAY, January 19 at the Funeral Home from 2-4PM. Service of Remembrance at 3PM followed by military honors. Donations made to the Wounded Warrior Project are appreciated.
