Daughter of Joel† and Joan Alonzo; sister to Julie (William) Calteaux, Joetta Dingle, Susan Alonzo and Steve Alonzo; daughter‑in‑law to Robert† and Darlene Tyler; and sister‑in‑law to Debi (Scott) Gladu, Christopher Tyler, Anthony (Katie) Tyler, Jude Tyler and Lenn Tyler, Nephews, Nieces, Great Nephews, Great Niece: Justin (Amy) Grunert, Kelli (Jordan) Hornbaker, Ben (Emily) Neyen, DeAngelo Tyler, Anthony Jr. Tyler, Aiden Tyler, Geneva Arroyo, Sam Grunert, Kaden Mobley, Hudson Hornbaker, Gia Neyen, and Leo Neyen.
A Life of Strength, Grace, and Unshakable Faith
Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1993, Jodi faced an unforgiving and progressive illness with extraordinary resilience. She never allowed MS to define her spirit. Instead, she deepened her commitment to prayer, learning and compassion, living every day with quiet courage.
Her Catholic faith was the anchor of her life. Jodi taught RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) first in Milwaukee, and later continued that ministry in Carrollton, Texas, at St. Catherine of Sienna, guiding others on their path to Christ with gentleness, wisdom and heartfelt devotion.
As a member of St. Catherine of Sienna, she worked closely with the pastor and staff, forming a lifelong bond that to this day is cherished and remembered with undeniable love and admiration.
She further deepened her spiritual life by becoming a Lay Franciscan at the Basilica of St. Josaphat. She lived the Franciscan charisms of humility, service and love with sincerity and joy, embodying them even as her physical challenges grew, offering her suffering on behalf of the people she loved.
A Marriage Rooted in Devotion
At the center of Jodi's life was her marriage to Garrod. Their 38‑year bond was one of unwavering devotion, mutual care and profound love. Together they navigated every joy and every hardship as a team-grounded in faith, humor and a shared resolve to never stop loving boldly.
Garrod was her partner in every sense: her advocate, her steady presence, her source of strength, laughter and comfort. Their marriage stood as a witness to the power of commitment and the beauty of enduring love lived fully and faithfully.
A Brilliant Mind and a Heart for Service
Jodi attended St. Mary's Academy High School, where her leadership shined as President of the Forensics Team and Assistant Director of the Drama Club. She went on to graduate from Alverno College with dual degrees in Psychology and Business Administration-a reflection of her sharp intellect and her passion for understanding and helping others.
She contributed to the family business, Teleview Electronics, where she met Garrod 40 years ago, creating and operating a video store within the company. Later, she excelled as a Regional Manager for Roundy's Corporation until MS made it impossible to continue working. Yet even when her professional life was cut short, her desire to learn and grow never diminished.
As MS progressed, she responded not with defeat, but with determination: learning Braille as her vision faded, studying Tai Chi, and always seeking new ways to adapt, serve and stay connected to the world around her.
A Teacher Through Her Living Example
Jodi inspired others wherever she lived, she found ways to inspire. "Team Jodi" emerged from her home in Milwaukee. Young adults worked directly with Jodi learning the tools of supportive, chronic care and the importance of compassionate home care - turning her personal journey into a gift for others.
Her strength, faith and determination taught those around her how to see beyond illness and recognize the dignity, courage and humanity of every person. Her gracious spirit and resilience became a quiet guide for many, showing by example what it means to live with purpose, compassion and unwavering hope.
She also actively supported MS awareness and helped organize benefits where she was able to uplift others navigating similar challenges.
Her Legacy
Jodi's life was not defined by what MS took from her, but by everything she continued to give: faith, wisdom, perseverance, humor and love.
She taught those who knew her that courage does not always roar-sometimes it whispers:
"I will learn. I will adapt. I will keep going."
She will be remembered for her intelligence, her creativity, her profound faith and the quiet but powerful bravery that touched countless lives. Her legacy continues in every person she taught, inspired and loved.
