Joanne Jalowiec (née Olszewski), of Milwaukee, passed away on March 26, 2024 at the age of 75, with her loving husband of 57 years, Dick Jalowiec, by her side.

Joanne was the loving Mama of Tina Jalowiec and Karen (Dan) Dornak, and the proud Grandma of Trinity Jackson and Joey Dornak. She is also survived by her aunt and best friend, Sandy Olszewski; her siblings, Johnny, Jill, and Paul Olszewski; and her Angels, Johnny and Ivelisse Torres; as well as several nieces and nephews, and countless other family members and friends.

Many will remember Joanne from the City of Milwaukee's 4th of July celebration at Wilson Park, to which she gave her heart and soul year-round for more than three decades. She also worked for many years at St. Joan Antida High School in Milwaukee. She loved children and wanted nothing more than to make the world a better place for them. The kids she met while organizing the talent contest at Wilson Park and the girls she knew from St. Joan's always held a special place in her heart.

Perhaps no one will notice Joanne's absence more than her friends and teammates from Wordscapes, the Scrabble-style word game she loved and dedicated much of her free time to. When she wasn't busy making words, her most frequent activities were reading, listening to "oldies", and reminding her kids and grandkids to be careful and to call when they got home (not necessarily in that order).

Joanne leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love, she will be greatly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known her. And don't worry, Mama, we will always be careful. But we know you'll always be watching over us, just to be sure.
