(Nee Doogle) During Christmas weekend, the world lost one of its best when Joanne Burns passed away quietly in her home as she waited for her husband Deacon John Burns to return home from mass. She died peacefully, with no illness and having celebrated her 85th birthday in late September. Joanne spent her life dedicated first to her family and then to caring for others through her creative contributions at two churches and as a hospice volunteer. Joanne is now reunited with her beloved son, Thomas J. Burns, her late parents, Fred and Mary Doogle, her sister, Marie Busalacchi and her nephew, Frank Busalacchi - who was like a brother to her. She is the devoted wife of 65 years to Deacon John Burns, dear mother of Sharon Burns, John P. Burns (Cindy), Mary Burns Prince (Oliver), mother-in-law of Barbara Burns and beloved grandmother of John G. Burns, Monica Takacs, Jason Burns, Mary Catherine Ball, Nicole Burns Spiller and Ashley Burns. Great grandmother of Jackson Burns, Logan Burns, Madelyn Ball and Maggie Ball. Sister-in-law of Michael Burns.
Also survived by her great nephews and niece, other relatives and family friends. Mom, you have been the foundation of our family, a model of love for all and the source of constant strength and encouragement. We honor you now and always.
