Baron, Jo Ann R. (nee Burg), age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 28, 2026. Wife of the late Joseph. Loving mother of Rosanne Baron-Shurilla (Kevin), Dr. Julie Baron, Susan Goens, Carol Baron-Sebesta (David), Timothy Baron (Barbara) and the late Mary Ann Baron. Cherished grandmother of Alexander and Christina Goens, Alison and Shay Sebesta, Michael and Daniel Baron. Great-grandmother of Frances, Etienne, Zykan, Zoe and Madison.

Jo Ann was born in Kenosha at St. Catherine's Hospital in 1930 during the Great Depression. She told stories of a difficult childhood after her mother died when she was 6 years old. She attended St. George grade school and left St. Catherine's High School after 10th grade. She met her future husband Joe through an acquaintance and spent her adult life as a mother of six children and a homemaker. They were married for 66 years before Joe passed in 2017. After Joe retired they often to traveled to Arizona and Florida in the winter. She loved to sew and was generous and hard working. She was a great baker, and loved watching old movies and always had fun facts about the actors. She loved watching game shows and cooking shows in between her housework. When she would read to us, she would change voices for the different characters in the stories. Her Catholic faith guided her throughout her life.

Jo Ann was the last of her generation. She outlived all of her siblings, their spouses and those of her husband. We are grateful to the staff at Harbor Village Memory Care facility who cared for her for several years . They loved her and one of her nurses aides said of her "she was an angel in this place, we never had trouble with her, she never swore , she was always happy, she never was mad" We are also grateful to Allay Hospice for their support in the final days of her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Shalom Center of Kenosha.
