Jerome F. Shaffer "Jerry"

Born into eternal life on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, aged 78 years. Beloved husband for 56 years to Rita (nee Braun). Cherished father of Deanna (Marco) Wenzel and Michael Shaffer. Proud grandpa of Stephan Wenzel. Dear brother of Joyce Smith and Rose Mary (the late Robert) Bronikowski. Preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Rose Shaffer and his brother Robert Shaffer. Fond brother-in-law of Eugene Braun, Ilene (the late Jim) Duncan, Donald (Betty) Braun, Anna (the late Lynn) Runnels, Kathleen (Carl) Sietz, and the late Patricia (the late Larry) Randash. Proceeded in death by his loving in-laws Steve and Amelia Braun. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends.

Jerry retired as a lieutenant from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department with 32 years of service. He was a US Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the deputy sheriff association and the American Legion Post 305. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed golfing, biking, reading, gardening, and traveling, but his most cherished time was spent with his family. He particularly enjoyed his children being involved with girl scouts, cub scouts, and boy scouts and he was active with their scout activities. His grandson was his joy and he enjoyed spending time with him and supporting his endeavors. He and Rita enjoyed their weekend getaways and their epic trips to Spain.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff in the ER and the ICU at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital and the ICU staff at Waukesha Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care Jerry received.

Memorial Visitation on Saturday, April 6, 2024, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at St. Veronica Church, 4001 S. Whitnall Avenue, Milwaukee. Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM. If desired, memorials to Fisher House - Wisconsin are appreciated.
