Age 75 found peace on October 23, 2018. Loving husband and best friend of Debbie, beloved father to Jered (Barb), Kailyn (Andy) Dorniak, and Kristi (Caleb). Loving grandpa to Jayden and Ella Fliss. Preceded in death by his sister Darlene Fliss. Brother of Leona Fliss, Carol (Jim) Neiman, and Janice (Bob) Dunn. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Best friend of Rob Steffes. Built a special bond with John and Ryan Konop.
Jerry was most proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps (1962-1966). He was a dedicated police officer for the City of St. Francis (badge number 7) for 30 years. He was a past member of the St. Francis Arts Council for over 30 years, and a past member of the Beautification Committee for 16, as well as a member of the Queen of Peace Post 672 Catholic War Veterans.
As a father, Jerry went above and beyond to support his children. Jerry enjoyed long distance bicycling, including 20 years of participation with the Law Enforcement Torch Run Bike Ride for Special Olympics. Although nothing could replace Vic Tannys, he worked out (socialized) daily at Blast Fitness and formed many special friendships. Jerry was an avid gardener and his tomatoes were requested annually by family and friends. Special thanks to those who supported him during his battle with pancreatic cancer, especially Rob and Wendy Steffes, Jimmy Coyne and Linda Pinkowski. Forever grateful for the compassionate care from the Froedtert Cancer Clinic Chemotherapy nurses and staff at Dr. Ritchs Faith clinic, the palliative Nurse Practitioners at Froedterts Courage clinic, and Wendy Bronstad, RN.
Visitation Friday, October 26, 2018 from 9AM to 10AM at SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI, Clare Hall, 3470 South Illinois Ave., St. Francis. Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerrys name would be appreciated to Wisconsin chapter MS Society, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Froedtert Clinical Cancer Center, and Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi building fund.
Currently, he is likely taking his bike out for a spin, or checking up on the stock market. SEMPER FI
