Age 82 years. Born to Eternal Life on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Preceded in death by her parents Royla L. Leland and Lt. Commander Edward H. Leland, and brother Lt. Colonel Edward B. (Jan) Leland. Jeanne is survived by her aunt Edith Leland, and her nieces and nephew; Sharon (Jerry) Theut, Katherine (Gary) Dudas, and Craig (Maria) Leland and many dear friends.
Jeanne received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan and taught band and orchestra in Pontiac, Michigan before attending the University of Iowa, where she received a Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. She retired as a District Director in Milwaukee after thirty years of service with the State of Wisconsins Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. She played for many years in the Milwaukee Catholic Symphony, Dixie Land Band, Milwaukee American Legion Band, Als Happy Notes, the Lakeshore Wind Symphony, and the Greendale Village Bands. She enjoyed playing the clarinet with the Swing of Pearls, the Wilson Knights Swing Band, alto and tenor saxophone in the Milwaukee Police Band, and also in a six piece chamber group as well as in several local jazz ensembles.
Jeanne was also a member of Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Sorority and of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity. Services and Interment will be held in Michigan at a later date.
