James Monroe Mendick "Gibby"

Died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 age 71 years. Beloved husband of Yolanda Mendick. Loving father of the late Robert James Alvarez. Loving Papa of the late Daniel James Athy, Julian Alvarez, Daniel Martine Alvarez, Samuel Brown, Kiara R. (Joshua) Tomaich, Jeremiah Johnson, Nickeya C. Gray, and Rose V. Alvarez. Proud great-papa of Anthony Alvarez, Mya Athy, Jasmine Coak, Jace Alvarez, Daniel James Alvarez, Avianna Alvarez, and Naiari Yolanda Alvarez Tomaich. Cherished brother of Byrnice C. Mendick. Devoted uncle of Denise D. Papapetropoulos. Great-uncle of George Papapetropoulos and Theodore Papapetropoulos. Great-great uncle of Christopher A. Papapetropoulos, Teraesa R. Papapetropoulos, Analyn C. Papapetropoulos, Theodore Thomas Papapetropoulos. Further survived by other nieces, nephews, other family, friends and his "Bestie", El Mago.

James was an avid golfer, going on nature hikes, biking, and enjoying a fine cigar. He was a HUGE Chicago Cubs fan and one of the highlights was attending the 2016 World Series game, and was also a Chicago Bears and enjoyed taking road trips with his beloved by his side.
