Obituary

Born to Eternal Life on February 23, 2021, at age 92 years. Beloved husband for 47 years to the late Dolores (Scott). Cherished father of Veronica (Jeff) Lamster, Cathy (Mark) Goodwin Smoody, Michael (Glenna) Goodwin, David (Susan) Goodwin. Proud grandpa of Lindsey (Alex) Fojtik, Justin Smoody, Janelle (Coty) Harris, Alex (Kaitlin) Goodwin, Nick (Shannon) Goodwin, Nathan Goodwin, Jamie (Jake) Lois, Stephanie (Nick) Manning, Michael (Tonia) Lamster. Dear great-grandpa of Calvin, Sydney, Colton, Brodie, Bryson, Haley, Easton, William, Jackson, and the late Harleigh. Treasured brother of Thomas Goodwin, Bernice Goodwin, and preceded in death Clarence (Carol) Goodwin and John (Gloria) Goodwin. Jim was a retiree of AT&T and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a committed member of American Legion Post 0427 for over 50 years, belonged to the Military Funeral Honors Unit, and represented the Legion post in many parades. Prior to Jim's stroke, he was involved with the St Francis Historical Society, the South Side Scholarship Foundation and was an Usher at Divine Mercy parish. Jim ushered 7:30 mass on Sunday morning and will be remembered for his welcoming smile and humorous nature. Kids and adults alike looked forward to seeing dad after mass where they often were greeted with a tootsie roll. Jim simply loved to see others happy. Jim was very involved with his children growing up. He was a scout leader, coached scout baseball, applied his skills building soap box derby cars, and was thrilled to share his dancing steps at the father daughter dances. After retiring, Jim's grandchildren kept him just as busy as he attended nearly all their sporting and band concert events. He loved the special breakfast or lunch gatherings with the grandkids and enjoyed taking the boys down to Jones Island to view the ships in harbor. Visitation THURSDAY, March 4, 2021 from 9:30 AM-11 AM at Divine Mercy Parish Marquette Ave, South Milwaukee, 800 Marquette Ave, South Milwaukee. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM.
