James "Jim" Athy

Found peace on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, aged 70 years. Beloved husband of Genette (nee Brown), best friends and married for 34 wonderful years. Loving father to Gina, Scott, and Andrea Athy. Wonderful step-dad to Wayne Perkins, Gwen Evans, and Shun Perkins. Cherished grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dearest brother of Gale Lazar and Shawn (Karen) Athy. Further survived by other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Lorraine Athy and his grandson Daniel Athy.

Jim was an avid walker and always made sure to get his five miles in no matter what the weather was outside. He was talented in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and anything that required working with his hands. Jim's son Scott had the pleasure of learning the ins and outs of home improvement throughout the many projects that they worked on together over the years. Jim was a perfectionist in all aspects of his life, including his home improvement work, his lawn, his gardening, and his spotless house. He was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan and often had to put up with the reality of being a rival fan living in Wisconsin. Jim was a selfless person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need no matter the circumstances. He will be deeply missed by his family and loved ones.

Visitation at the Funeral Home on Monday, October 6, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 Noon. Interment to immediately follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
