Obituary

Heinze, James E. Found peace on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the age of 78 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jim is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 48 years, Maria Heinze (nee Eisner) and his loving daughter, Lisa Heinze. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Irene Heinze and his sister Elaine (Harold) Nordby. Further survived by other family members.

A U.S. Army veteran with an auto repair specialization, Jim was honorably discharged in January 1970. For 39 years, Jim then worked in tool & die at Ladish Co., Inc., finally retiring in December of 2006. He took great pride in his job, arriving early to work every morning and rarely missing a day during his tenure.

A lifelong resident of Milwaukee, Jim could be found casting a fishing line at a local lake, practicing his do-it-yourself skills at home, and tending to the vegetable and flower gardens he lovingly maintained.

Private services held by family.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff of 9CN at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center for their extraordinary palliative care.

A poem Jim shared with his family that is especially poignant at this time:

"I Love You Now and Forever"

If you're ever going to love me, love me now, while I can know

All the sweet and tender feelings which from real affection flow.

Love me now, while I am living: do not wait til I am gone,

And then chisel it in marble...warm love words on ice-cold stone.

If you've dear, sweet thoughts about me, why not whisper them to me.

Don't you know 'twould make me happy and as glad as glad could be?

if you wait till I am sleeping, ne'er to waken here again,

There'll be walls of earth between us and I couldn't hear you then.

So, dear, if you love me any, if it's but a little bit.

Let me know it now while living: I can own and treasure it.
