Giovanini, James "Gio" Unexpectedly passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012. Age 83. Preceded in death by his daughter Jan. He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley (nee Schmidt), his dear son John, his 96 years young loving uncle John Valente from Marquette MI., nephews Gary (Debbie) and Jeffrey (Gaby) Schmidt and many other cousins and wonderful friends. Jim was born June 22, 1929 to Albert and Rena(nee Valente) Giovanini. He attended Humboldt Park School and graduated from Bay View High School in 1948. That year he was introduced to Shirley by his childhood friend and fishing partner Jim Safford. After a 4 year courtship they married May 31, 1952. Ten years later they adopted John, and 3 years later adopted Jan. Jim became a great wood patternmaker employed at Nordberg Mfg Co. and his wood working was very prominent in their home. He loved fishing, reading, and watching baseball. He will be remembered for his story telling. Memorial gathering at the funeral home on Saturday, September 15, from 9-11AM.
