Turkiewicz, Irene H. (nee Szponder) Born To Eternal Life on Sunday, September 28, 2014, age 91 years. Beloved wife for 63 years of the late Dennis I. Turkiewicz. Cherished mother of Carolyn (Walter) Cieczka, Carl, Dorothy (Robert) Broihier, Mary (Lawrence) Cetera and Teresa (Victor) Jones. Loving grandmother of Walter III (Holli), Stephanie (Neil), Joshua, Brian (Janel), Kevin (Katie), Jennifer, Julie (Kevin), Brigid (Phillip), Colleen, Bonnie (Eric), Victoria and Phillip (Peggy). Dear great-grandmother of Madeline, Matthew, Megan, Andrew, Derek, Zander, Zoe, Benjamin, Keira, Sylvie, Mathilda, Leslie, Faustina, Henry, Charles, Clara and Thomas. Sister-in-law of Trudy and Jean Szponder. She is preceded in death by her daughter Carolyn, her granddaughter Victoria and her siblings; Mary (Andy) Tafelski, John (Patricia), Stanley (Stella), Edward, Julia, Joseph, Dorothy and Rita Szponder, Esther (Jerry) Brown and Janet (Tom) DeBrue. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation at the Funeral Home FRIDAY, October 3, 2014 from 4-8 PM. Rosary Service at 6:30 PM. Visitation also on Saturday, 9 AM at ST. MONICA'S SENIOR LIVING CHAPEL, 3920 North Green Bay Rd, Racine, WI followed by a rosary service at 9:30 AM and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow St. Adalbert Cemetery (please meet directly at the 3801 So. 6th street entrance).
Irene was born and raised in Milwaukee County and was a former member of St. Alexander Catholic Church. She resided at Juniper Court in St. Francis and was a recent resident of the St. Monica Senior Home. She was active in many prayer groups and led the rosary. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe visiting Marian Shrines and the Holy Land. Irene loved to write poetry about God and Mary. In lieu of flowers, mass offerings are appreciated.
