(nee Schachtschneider) passed away peacefully on Nov. 22, 2007, Age 88 years Beloved wife of the late Chester F. Waszak. Devoted mother of Virginia (Martin) Fritzsch, Margaret (Joseph) Derr and Valerie Waszak (Mr. Dee Janke). Adored grandmother of Laurel Ann Fritzsch and Joseph (Kimberly), Katherine and Robert Derr. Proud great-grandmother of Emily. Hilda was preceded in death by her sisters Gertrude and Leona and her brother Gerhardt. Hilda lived by the golden rule, "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you." She exemplified selflessness and generosity, always giving to others before thinking of herself. She was kind to all and infinitely patient with her sometimes lively children and grandchildren. Her love for her husband, children, grandchildren and dear sister Leona was boundless and absolute. She was always cheerful and able to find the positive in any situation. Hilda had a keen intellect. She enjoyed reading non-fiction, mastering Suduko puzzles and keeping herself well informed about politics and current events. We thank her for instilling in us a love of reading. She was truly a "Renaissance woman" – knowledgeable about the nuances of the English language and many other varied topics. Hilda enjoyed traveling around the world vicariously through her children and grandchildren's adventures. Listening to public radio was one of her joys in life and she asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in her name to Wisconsin Public Radio, 821 University Avenue, Madison WI 53706. She also asked that memorials be made to the Sisters of St. Claire c/o Sister Celine, 7732 S. 51 St. Franklin, WI 53132. Sister Celine was instrumental in seeing the Sisters' dream of developing a senior apartment complex become a reality. Hilda was proud to be one of the complex's original residents and wanted them to be able to continue their good work. A special thanks to the staff at Columbia/St. Mary's Hospice for their kind and loving care. As per Hilda's wishes, burial will be private. Although there will be no public services, messages can be entered in a book of condolences at Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Home at www.pkfuneralhomes.com. We will miss you Mom and Grandma.
