Herb was U.S. Army veteran, proudly serving his country during the Korean War as an infantryman. After service, he attended and graduated from the Layton School of Art in Chicago. Moving to Milwaukee from his home of Kenosha Herb began his 30 career at Pabst Brewery where he ascended to Art Director. For many years the signs, promotional cans and special events posters were all created by Herb and his team. After retirement from Pabst, he continued to help some of the same clients and friends through his own company HerbArt and helped his professional friends at the Advertising Art Studio in Milwaukee. He was also a longtime member of Greendale Post #416, American Legion.

Herb had a gift for music, he enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo and ukulele as well as singing. Herb and Judy enjoyed traveling the U.S. and going on cruises. He will be remembered fondly by his family for his quiet, gentle, soft spoken nature. He was a gentle giant.
