Helen Clare Magulski
The family of Helen Clare Magulski (nee Lewis) sadly announces her passing on March 26, 2026 in South Milwaukee, WI at the age of 89.
Helen was born April 25, 1936 in Stevens Point, WI. She graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Wisconsin State College - Stevens Point, graduating in June 1958. Helen began her teaching career in Elkhorn, WI, where she taught home economics. Her teaching career was shortened when her husband became employed with the Milwaukee Public Schools. After moving to the Milwaukee area, Helen became a full-time mom, devoting her time to raising her three children. Helen’s children flourished under her guidance. She was very active in her children’s schooling, serving as a Girl Scout leader and on the PTA. Her family’s religious background was reflected in her church involvement, including singing and playing guitar in the church choir, and teaching religious education at the parish school. Helen was also involved in the South Milwaukee Human Concerns organization. Helen held herself to high personal standards, and along with her many other wonderful attributes, she was an understanding listener. Birthdays, holidays, and special family events were always planned with meticulous loving care, making each event a beautiful lasting memory. Helen was an outstanding cook, baker, decorator, and seamstress. She made many of her daughters’ clothes when they were young and altered her husband’s and son’s clothes. Helen was gifted at counted cross stitching and made dozens of items to decorate her home. Her home showcased her decorative skills.
Helen met her husband, Michael, while they attended the Wisconsin State College - Stevens Point. Their togetherness started in January 1956 when they became partners in a college physics class. They married on June 14, 1958, followed by over 67 beautiful years of marriage.
Helen came from a large Catholic family including two brothers and eight sisters. Her mother and father were loving parents and fantastic family role models. Helen is proceeded in death by her parents, Henry and Catherine Lewis; sisters Gertrude Lewis, Joan Lewis, Margaret Hudson (Richard), Kathryn Fitzgerald (Harry), Genevieve McManus (Albert), Mary Lewis, Carol Koerschner (John), and Dorothy Sanville (Leon); brother Robert Lewis (Betty); and parents-in-law Tony and Alice Magulski.
Helen is survived by her beloved husband, Michael; her loving children Kathryn Kornwolf, Jay Magulski (Kim), and Amy Larson; her cherished grandchildren Katie Kornwolf, Jenna Kornwolf, Anthony Magulski, Tyler Magulski, Emily Larson and Sarah Larson; her brother James Lewis (Judith); sister-in-law Shirley Genova Johnson; brother-in-law Thomas Magulski (Sandra); and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Divine Mercy Church in South Milwaukee on Wednesday, April 15th. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. There will be a private interment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. We find peace in knowing Helen is in the hands of the Lord and reunited with her heavenly family. (Dear, a meadowlark sang in Stevens Point Square.)
