Born in Appleton, Harvey's family moved to Sturgeon Bay in the early 1940's, a place he fondly remembered later in life. Harvey started his career in the Merchant Marines when he was 16. When he enlisted to serve in the Korean War, he landed in the Marines as "it had the shortest line," in his words. First an inspector at GE, he was soon promoted to Foreman, and ended his career there as Manufacturing Engineer. He was a kind man, slow and rare to anger. Following in his father's footsteps in carpentry, he loved helping friends and family with household repairs. His was a full, long life.
