August 1, 2006, Age 96 years 5 months, 3 days. He wanted credit for all his days. He is survived by Tony DiPiazza, his partner for 47 years, nephews and nieces living in Minnesota and Texas and his many friends. He practiced his medical profession from his office at 84th and Lisbon, from where he made his $2.50 house calls, retiring in 1976. He said he didn't want to live too long or there wouldn't be anyone left to say nice things about him. Well, there are plenty of us here and we all love you and cherish your being you. A grand nephew wrote to Hal, a letter he never got to read, and said "Uncle Hal, I have seen you cry and laugh and joke but one thing I haven't see you do is get angry."
