Harold J. Janka

It is with a heavy heart we announce that on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 Harold Joseph Janka age 78 years passed away peacefully at his home to be reunited with his family and loved ones. Beloved husband of the late Janice Janka. Loving father of Joseph Bruegl (John Koch), Jamie (Debra) Barchus and Diana Barchus. Cherished grandpa of Alison (Christopher) Napieralski, Catherine Barchus (Michael Goelz) and Christine (Richard) Lang. Dear great-grandpa of Elijah and Liam. Dear friend of Galbadrah "Bagi" Yanjiv. Beloved brother of Larry Jr. (Debbie) Janka, Ruth Piotrowski, Eileen (Eric) Jorgensen, Patricia (John) Eich, William Janka, Christine (Loren) Lentz and Jeffrey Janka. He is preceded in death by his siblings Joseph Janka, Louise Hall, Lortetta Janka, George Janka, Leroy Janka, Donald Janka and Richard Janka as well as faithful canine companion Blackey. Dear- God-father of Julie Wagner (nee Jorgensen) . Harold is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Harold was a U.S. Army Veteran proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Commendation Medal. He was a retiree of the United States Post Office, retiring and nearly 25 years of service. He was also a former employee of Caterpillar and Everbrite Co. Harold was an avid fisherman, gardener and Green Bay Packer fan. He was also an excellent mechanic, loved to tinker around the house, watching Western Movies and enjoyed listening to country music.

He will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, stubbornness and love of his grandchildren.

Visitation at the Funeral Home Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Funeral Service at 12:30 PM. Interment and Military Honors to follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
