Obituary

Passed peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was a proud graduate of Boys Tech and Journeyman Machinist. He is survived by his special friend Anna Campbell; children Kathleen (Roger) Harris, Rosemary (the late Donald) Czerniejewski, Peter (Cindy) Larson, Joanne (Chris) Gauthier, and Anna's son, Jay Campbell; siblings Grace LaRayne, Sonja (Fred) Strieff, Bruce (Beverly) Larson, and Claudia Larson. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Harley served his apprenticeship at Nordberg Manufacturing Co. and worked at several of Milwaukee's best-known companies including Schiltz, Pabst and Miller brewing. In 1980 he started his own machine and welding shop in New Berlin. He could be found there every day, until the end, practicing his craft and serving his customers. Harley was a life Member of South Shore Yacht Club, where he enjoyed sailing his boat and made many crossings of Lake Michigan. He was a past president of the Upper Midwest Blacksmithing Association. In his younger days he could be found at local dirt tracks racing sportsman and modified stockcars. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke's Hospital and also give a special thanks to all the owners and staff at Kat's Café in New Berlin, who took good care of him for many years. Memorials can be made to his favorite charity: The Milwaukee Rescue Mission. A celebration of life will be held when it is safer to gather, hopefully this summer.
