Greg was a devoted family man and a hands-on father and Papa. Having been active in football and baseball in his youth, he mentored his children and later his grandchildren in many different sports. After his retirement, he spent much of his time babysitting his grandchildren and attending their activities. He would often drive from place to place within a given day, trying to attend as many of his grandkids' events as he could. He also cared for both of his parents and his stepmother Betty through illness and infirmity. He had a great appetite for life, and enjoyed many celebrations with family and friends. He loved to cook. He had many special signature dishes that will be remembered, not the least of which the Thanksgiving turkey and the accompanying morning phone call that "the bird is in the oven!" His family will especially remember all of the special trips and vacations shared, especially the summer vacations spent in Eagle River, WI. Memories of campfires, boating, skiing, and spending time together by the lake will be cherished.
