Gloria Vargas was born in Cotulla, Texas and was the loving wife of Jose Luis Vargas; proud mother of the late Ramiro Melendez, Mariselda Melendez, Ruben Melendez, and Rick Melendez; beloved grandmother of Debbie Luna, William Gould III, and Nikolas Jose Luis Melendez; great-grandmother to Jesse Luna III, William Nathaniel Gould, and Willow Rose Gould. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Gloria was a shining star on the dance floor with her husband. She was a Tejana who enjoyed going to the Mexican fiestas and was a true member of the Catholic community. She was a member of St. George Church on the Southeast side of Chicago where she resided most of her life with her family and friends.

Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 2 PM to 7 PM. Additional visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, July 17, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Procession to St. Roman Parish to follow after for Mass of Christian Burial.
