Found eternal peace on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Karen (nee Seitz) Gruenewald for 54 years. Loving father of Brad and Todd (Theresa) Gruenewald. Proud grandpa of Ava and Ellie. Adopted grandfather of Kayla Chmielewski. Also survived by dear relatives and special friends.
Glenn started his career as a Milwaukee Police aide. He proudly served 34 years on the Milwaukee Police Department and retired as a Deputy Inspector of Administration. Glenn honorably served also in the 32nd Infantry Division Artillery, known as the famous Red Arrow Division. He was a member of the Generals staff. He trained at Ft. Lewis Washington to be called to Active Duty for the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Berlin Crisis.
Glenn was active in many clubs including Lake Lodge, Lake Shore Shrine where he served as treasurer, Tripoli Shrine and the Scimitar Foundation. He was also a past member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Milwaukee.
Memorial Visitation at the funeral home Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 10:00-Noon. Memorial services with Military Honors at Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Milwaukee Retired Police Association or Shiners Hospitals for Children. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice for their compassionate care.
