Czernejewski, Gilbert J. "Gibby" Born to eternal life on Monday, March 17, 2008, age 87 years. Beloved husband for 66 years of Rita "Sunny" (nee Pfister). Loving father of Ron (Jackie) Czernejewski, Janice (Dennis) Chojnacki, Larry (Debbie) Czernejewski, Mary (Jerry) Bochat and Jay (Jodi) Czernejewski. Proud grandfather of Chad, Stacy, Jennifer, Devin, Amy, Bradley, Andy, Katy, Sarah, Jonah, Jackson and Jensen. Dearest great-grandfather of Gage, Maxwell and Elizabeth. Dear brother of John Cerney. Preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann and Jozef Czerniejewski; sisters, Stella, Genevieve, Casmira and Sarah. Also survived by other family, friends and special neighbors. Gilbert was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II in the 8th division at the Battle of Normandy, the Invasion of France, the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Black Forrest; he was awarded Certificate of Merit, the Good Conduct Medal, the Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Congressional Medal of Honor from France. His memberships included the American Legion Post No. 27, South Milwaukee; the Polish Legion of American Veterans and Moose Lodge No. 49. Gilbert along with his wife and family were longtime residents of Cudahy and former members of St. Frederick Church.
