Gertrude taught school in the Cudahy and Greendale school systems and was a substitute teacher in South Milwaukee for many years. Gertrude was a founding member of the Cantare Chorale. She traveled extensively, enjoyed photography and birding and was an avid enthusiast of the cultural and theater arts. Because both Gertrude and her late husband Donald were involved with and dedicated to vocal music education for more than 30 years.
