George was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, an accomplished musician and educator, serving at A. E. Burdick School, Bay View and Hamilton High Schools. He was the founder and first director of the nationally acclaimed Lake Band and was a member of Wisconsin Lodge No. 13 F&AM for 59 years.
