Loving grandfather of Heidi Joy (Douglas) Bursch, Rebecca Joy (Scott) Rasmussen, Natalie and Ryan Gardiner , Alexandra and Sarah Baumann. Fond brother of Dr. Charles J. (Marcia) Baumann. Brother –in-law of Ray (Delores) and Norman (the late Dorothy) Bednarek , the late Dorothy and Leonard Sarnowski. Also survived by other family and many friends. Gene proudly served in Germany with the 14th Armor Division during WW II and served with the Reserves for 40 years retiring from the 452D General Hospital Unit with the rank of Major. Gene was a 1943 graduate of Bay View High School, 1950 graduate of UW-Madison with a BS in Electrical Engineering, retired from Cutler-Hammer (Eaton Corp.), was a member of the Pius XI Father's Club, Lake Band Parents Inc., and Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of Milwaukee.
