What a gift it was to have Gail in our lives.

Gail Wesline passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the age of 73, surrounded by family who loved her.

Gail was born on February 14, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Anita (Pape) and Ralph Rosenberg. She arrived on her mom's birthday, what a gift!

Milwaukee's East Side was home for much of Gail's early life, and she spent her younger years running around the neighborhood now known as Riverwest.

Gail married Richard "Dick" Wesline in 1982. Together, they enjoyed bowling and made plenty of memories both on and off the lanes. Their condo on the lake in Franklin became another place filled with good times, family, friends, and countless memories. Gail also loved spending time in Wisconsin's Northwoods with family and friends, often sitting in the sun or dropping a line in the water.

Gail built a successful career in human resources, beginning with AquaChem in the Milwaukee area. Her career with AquaChem eventually took her from Wisconsin to Knoxville, Tennessee, where she made a new home and built another wonderful community of friends. She loved living near the Smoky Mountains and sharing their beauty with family and friends who came to visit from Wisconsin.

She later worked for SAIC and Leidos, where her career gave her opportunities to see parts of the world she might never otherwise have experienced. She was especially proud of the travel she was able to do through her work, including time in the Middle East and the United Kingdom. Those experiences became an important chapter in a life filled with adventure, independence, and curiosity about the world.

But a list of places Gail lived, jobs she held, or countries she visited doesn't really tell the story of Gail.

The story of Gail is found in her relationships.

Gail had an incredible number of friends from every chapter of her life. She had a way of staying connected to people, and the friendships she built lasted. Family was equally important to her. She was a beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt, stepmom, grandma, cousin, and friend, but even those titles don't quite capture the place she held in so many hearts.

Gail was simply all of ours.

She loved spending time with her people, whether that meant an adventure somewhere far from home, a shopping trip (and Gail loved to shop!), dinner out, or simply being together.

Even during the final chapter of her life, Gail continued making memories. She spent her days surrounded by family and friends, enjoyed patio visits, fed giraffes at the Milwaukee County Zoo, visited the farmers market, created a glass dragonfly, enjoyed favorite foods, and was appropriately pampered with a manicure, pedicure, and an at-home hair appointment.

Most importantly, Gail was surrounded by people who loved her, and she knew it.

Gail is survived by her brother, Richard Rosenberg, and sister-in-law, Donna; her niece, Sherry (Dan) Wilde; her stepson, Scott (Michelle) Wesline; her grandsons, Trevor (Hailey) Wesline and Jared Wesline; her dear friends Alice and Ricky Witz, Janice Bradshaw, and Pat Healy; along with other relatives and the many, many dear friends whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Anita (Pape) Rosenberg; her father, Ralph Rosenberg; and her former husband, Richard "Dick" Wesline.

Gail had said that when she saw her mom again, she would know it was time to go. Her family finds great comfort in knowing that when that moment finally came, she found Anita.

Gail's family would like to extend a special thank you to the hospice staff, especially Deanna, for the compassionate care and support they provided to Gail and our family.

A heartfelt thank you to Gail's wonderful friends in Tennessee, who she loved dearly and who supported and cared for her there, especially Susan Reed, Denise Creekmore, Shanda Lee, Ali Taggert and family, and the many others who were part of Gail's Tennessee family.

Our family is also incredibly grateful to Perry Orr and Amber Bates for their extraordinary generosity in helping bring Gail home from Tennessee to Milwaukee, allowing her to spend her final months surrounded by family and friends.

In accordance with Gail's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 9, at Boerner Botanical Gardens in Hales Corners, Wisconsin. Visitation will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., followed by a Time for Sharing at 5:00 p.m.

Gail asked those gathering to celebrate her life to wear muted pinks and purples or clothing featuring birds and butterflies.

A celebration will also be held in Knoxville, Tennessee, at a later date. Details will follow.

Gail will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives she touched. We will miss her stories, her friendship, her independence, her sense of adventure, and simply having her here.

What a gift it was to have Gail in our lives.

She was deeply loved.

She was all of ours.

And she always will be.
