Negron-Torres
July 8, 1924 – March 17, 2025
Francisca Negron Torres (Paquita) found eternal peace on Monday, March 17th, 2025, age 100.5 years. Survived by her children, Victor M. Torres, Rosa M. Torres, Gloria E. Cruz, Margarita Torres-Gayle, Gene Torres, Carlos Torres, Norma I. Torres, Mary Luz Lareano, Enrique Torres, and Lydia Torres-Sevilla. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids. She is survived by her sisters in Puerto Rico, Otilia, Gloria, Lucy and Ana. Preceded in death by Genaro Torres (husband), Ana E. Torres (daughter) and Miguel A. Torres (son).
Francisca was born and raised in Bayamón, Puerto Rico to a large family of 12 children. She was raised in the country where her childhood consisted of supporting parents with farm-related duties such as, tending to chickens, rabbits, milking cows, ect. She was passionate about living in the country and completing all tasks assigned to her.
She was married to Genaro Torres and they owned a grocery store connected to a small farm. In 1951 she moved to Wisconsin to join her husband that had found employment in Milwaukee. She spoke no English but was a survivor and quickly learned by watching soap operas! (She never quite adjusted to the cold, brutal winters in Wisconsin and often yearned to return to the Island.)
Throughout the years she raised a family of 12 children. She was a fantastic cook and was known for her delicious "rice and beans"! She loved singing around the house "De Colores," "Feliz Navidad," "Besame Mucho." She had strong ties to her Catholic faith. She was a strong woman physically as well as emotionally and totally dedicated to her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 10 AM - 12 PM. A funeral Service will be held at 12 PM. Interment to follow at Wood National Cemetery.
