Francis Herbert Nakles, affectionately known as "Mickey", peacefully passed away on January 27, 2024, at the age of 94, surrounded by his loving family in Milwaukee, WI. Born on November 5, 1929, in Cleveland, OH, Mickey was the beloved son of Willamena Carlson.
Mickey's life was marked by hard work and dedication to his craft. As a pile driver in the construction industry, he was employed by Edward E. Gillen, where he honed his skills and made lasting connections with colleagues and friends. Mickey's work ethic and commitment to excellence were admired by all who knew him.
Mickey possessed a wealth of knowledge and wisdom acquired through his life experiences. He was a man of many talents, finding joy in golfing, woodworking, fishing, camping, glasswork, playing cards, and traveling. His friendly demeanor and quick wit made him the life of any gathering, bringing laughter and joy to those around him.
Mickey will be profoundly missed by his family. He leaves behind his children, Pam Sullivan, Michelle McDonald (Mac), Joyce Mullholland (Jeff), David Nakles (Joli), and Richard Nakles (Linda). He was a loving grandfather to Greg (Kristin), Jessi (Mike), Nick (Katie), Jaquie (Jeremy), Amy (Tom), Tabitha (Kevin), Kara, Sam, Clarissa (Scott), and great-grandfather to Justin, Matthew, Jordan, Jaxon, Gavin, Emery, Delilah, Dylan, Hank, and Hallie. His memory will also be cherished by his surviving brother, Karl Carlson, his many caring neighbors and friends as well as his beloved dog, Coco.
Mickey joins his beloved wife, Fay, and son, Francis Jr "Mickey," in eternal rest. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Wally, and sisters, Clara Emma and Edith, and his beloved dog, Tiny.
The Nakles family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Aurora Zilber Hospice for their compassionate care during Mickey's final days.
A celebration of Mickey's life will be held at a later date. Friends, family, and all those touched by his kindness are invited to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Francis "Mickey" Nakles' name to the Wisconsin Humane Society or Aurora Zilber Hospice.
Francis Herbert Nakles will forever be remembered for his zest for life, his unwavering love for his family, and the lasting impact he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul find eternal peace.
