(nee Weyer), peacefully passed on toward her eternal reward on May 1, 2026, at the age of 102. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth, her brothers Alphonse, Clarence and Leo Weyer, and her sisters Martha LaPinske and Theresa Weyer. She is survived by her children James Munroe, Ann Mullen (Karen Graff), Jane (John) Rau and David Munroe (Michele Hirning), 5 grandchildren, Jeremy, Lea, Eric, Elizabeth, and Trevor, and 6 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Evan, Keaton, Nolan, Dylan and Jubilee, as well as other relatives and friends.
Florence was born on her father's farm in Dodge County, Wisconsin, near Brownsville. After her father passed away when she was 9, the family moved to Lomira. The great-great granddaughter of German immigrants, she spoke German with her family and didn't speak English on a regular basis until she started school. After graduating high school, she moved to Milwaukee to attend the former State Teachers College, now UWM. After one year, she went to work while she saved money to return to school. She worked at Nordberg Manufacturing Company where she met her husband, Ellsworth. They were married in 1944. After raising her 4 children, she finally was able to finish her schooling at UWM, graduating in 1988 with a B.A. in History. She was a homemaker and is remembered by her children as a wonderful cook, baker, and seamstress. She volunteered many hours at her parish, St. Charles Borromeo, and knit many, many hats for newborns at St. Francis Hospital. She had the ability to make friends easily.
Thank you to the residents of Franciscan Gardens. You gave Florence an active social life while residing there, and your friendship meant so much to her and her family. Special thanks to the staff of the Gardens who showed so much kindness and took such good care of her, especially in her final days, and to the wonderful staff of St. Croix Hospice who provided compassionate care to her as well.
