(nee Langen) Born and raised in Bay View, found peace on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, age 83 years. Beloved wife for 58 years of Leo Conta. Mother of Kenneth (Ellen) Conta and Gia (Mike) LaRoche. Fond aunt of Joyce (Jeff) Evers. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters. Evelyn graduated from Bay View High School in 1945, and in 1952 she was married to Leo. Together they owned the Tippecanoe Linoleum and Tile Company. To make ends meet she colored black and white photographs and later commercial pictures. After they sold the business she continued with her painting and wrote short children's stories. She never strayed too far from Bay View and was drawn to Lake Michigan. She was a courageous woman who did not let the disease of Polio limit the potential of her life.
