Ellen Marilyn Anderson, born on October 13, 1943, in Hancock, Michigan, passed peacefully from this life on September 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A spirited and nurturing soul, Ellen was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Raised in the serene beauty of Dover Location, Calumet, Michigan, Ellen's foundational years were spent among the breathtaking landscapes of the Upper Peninsula. After graduating from Dollar Bay High School, she furthered her education at Northland College, earning a degree in Math and Education. For twelve years, she shared her passion for knowledge as a math teacher in Menasha, Wisconsin, inspiring countless students with her dedication to education.
In 1977, Ellen married the love of her life, Gordon Anderson, and together they built a home filled with laughter and love. Ellen devoted over 30 years of her professional life to Grede Foundries, where she retired as a Pricing Analyst Supervisor, earning the respect of her colleagues through her unwavering commitment and expertise.
Ellen is survived by her cherished son, Jason (Kristin) Anderson and stepson John (Sherry) Anderson, her stepdaughters, Brenda Anderson and Donna (Vince) Blegen, as well as her precious grandchildren, Finn, Alexis, and Ethan Anderson, and Lisa Briggs and Natalie Nauone. She will also be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Ellen was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Gordon, her parents Ronald and Agnes Berg, her beloved brothers Melvin (Gladys Duby) and Marvin (Betty Berg), sisters Florence (Leroy) Kulju and Dorothy (John) Kupari, and her treasured grandson, Liam Anderson.
A proud Finlander and longtime member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ellen enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending quality time with her family and friends. In the company of her grandchildren, she found boundless joy—their laughter and playful spirit brought her immense happiness as she warmly embraced her role as "Grandma."
Ellen's visitation will be held at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on September 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM, celebrating a life filled with love and compassion.
As we gather to celebrate Ellen's extraordinary life—a life marked by devotion, love, and resilience—we invite all whose lives she touched to join us in remembering her legacy of kindness and generosity. The impact of her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
